OUR INITIATIVES

The Illinois Adult Use Social Equity Program aimed to provide opportunities for disadvantaged individuals and communities of color impacted by the war on drugs to benefit from the creation of the adult use market. Despite its goals, the program has encountered challenges in fully achieving its objectives.

The Social Equity Advocacy Certification is designed to help businesses and entrepreneurs create a more inclusive and equitable marketplace within the cannabis industry. This certification encourages businesses to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion by meeting specific criteria:

  • Minium 30% of employees from disproportionately impacted areas or justice impacted
  • Minimum of 30 % of SKUs sourced from social equity providers
  • Demonstration of a diversified supply chain

Cannabis operators displaying the Social Equity Advocacy Certification logo signal their commitment to these principles. Additionally, SEEN will donate 3% of proceeds from the certification program to communities affected by the war on drugs. This commitment enhances public trust, empowers marginalized communities, and elevates your business’s reputation as a genuine advocate for equity.

Legacy Lane Presented by SEEN

Legacy Lane, presented by SEEN, successfully hosted its inaugural Summer 2024 cohort, empowered by Ascend’s Co-Lab and supported by 93Boys and CANN.  This six-week immersive program brought together 15 participants from the Midwest, South, and West regions, giving them the opportunity to showcase their brands while learning essential business, branding, and go-to-market strategies. The cohort introduced their offerings to the Illinois market as part of this pilot initiative.

In addition to expert-led sessions, participants enjoyed an educational field trip and presented their companies at a national conference. We are proud to announce that one of our premier brands won the competition.Legacy Lane provides immense value to retailers by expanding product variety, allowing small cultivators to collaborate with emerging brands and diversify their portfolios. It also serves as a critical pathway for legacy brands transitioning into the legal market.
